Hotel Edison Times Square

Past the marquees of West 47th Street, half a block off Times Square, Hotel Edison occupies a 1931 Art Deco tower whose lobby murals and terrazzo floors survive from the original design. Two hundred and ninety-plus rooms sit above the theater district's ticket booths, a five-minute walk to Broadway shows and the Port Authority terminal.

The ground-floor Edison Cafe has served theater crews and stagehands since the 1980s, still open early for pre-matinee coffee.

Rooms facing 47th Street carry more marquee light at night; interior-facing rooms trade the view for quiet.
