Varna: Bulgaria's Black Sea Capital

Varna sits on Bulgaria's northeastern Black Sea coast, 470 km east of Sofia. Founded as the Greek colony Odessos around 585 BC, the city preserves one of the most significant Roman thermae complexes in the Balkans — the Varna Roman Baths, dating to the 2nd–3rd century AD and covering roughly 7,000 sq m.
