Jing's Residence Pingyao

Eight traditional courtyard compounds deep inside Pingyao's 2,700-year-old walled city, Jing's Residence occupies a restored Qing-dynasty merchant estate on East Avenue — original timber lattice screens and grey-brick kang sleeping platforms intact throughout.

Rooms follow Qing-era proportions: carved doorways, low coffered ceilings, and heated kang beds replacing standard frames. The inner courtyards hold quiet even during peak heritage weekends, insulated by stone walls averaging a metre thick.

East Avenue threads the spine of the ancient city; the County Magistrate's Yamen and the Rishengchang Draft Bank Museum both fall within a five-minute walk. The south gate of the Ming city wall is reachable on foot in under ten minutes.
