Built on Gundulić Square in the heart of Dubrovnik's Old City, The Pucic Palace occupies a restored baroque townhouse where the morning fruit-and-vegetable market sets up beneath its windows. Nineteen rooms and suites keep stone-mullioned windows and antique furnishings rather than a uniform hotel look.

The rooftop terrace clears the surrounding rooftops for a direct line to the bell tower and harbour beyond the city walls. Stradun's marble thoroughfare starts thirty metres from the entrance, making this a base for travellers who want the Old City itself as neighbourhood rather than a drive-in.

Car access stops at the walls; luggage is carried in by staff.
