Hotel Casa Gangotena

Eight suites and rooms occupy the restored 1920s Gangotena mansion on Plaza San Francisco, one of Quito's most photographed colonial squares in the UNESCO-listed historic centre. The facade's original ironwork and polished hardwood floors survive intact beneath contemporary furnishings.

The rooftop terrace looks directly onto the 16th-century San Francisco church across the cobblestones — a view largely absent from rival Old Town hotels. The restaurant draws on Andean ingredients; cooking classes and guided walking tours of the barrio are arranged through the concierge without third-party fees.

Guayaquil and Mariscal Sucre airport shuttle is offered directly by the property. At 2,850 metres elevation, the building's heating runs continuously — useful given Quito's cold evenings year-round.
