Èze perches at 427 metres on a rocky promontory in the Alpes-Maritimes, midway between Nice (11 km west) and Monaco (8 km east). • Getting there: Frequent trains from Nice-Ville to Èze-sur-Mer take 15 minutes; a steep footpath (the Nietzsche Path, named after Friedrich Nietzsche who walked it in the 1880s) climbs 40 minutes to the village.
• Parking: Village access by private car is restricted; a shuttle runs from the lower car park.
• Season: July and August bring peak crowds; April–June offers mild temperatures with fewer visitors.
