The most convenient bases in Cannes are La Croisette for seafront hotels steps from the Palais des Festivals; Le Suquet (the old quarter) for character and hilltop views; Carnot/Forville for mid-range options near the covered market; and Palm Beach for quieter stays at the eastern tip of the bay. Most visitors stay two to four nights; Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is 26 km east, roughly 30 minutes by bus or taxi.

Where to Stay in Each Quarter

La Croisette runs 1.5 km along the seafront and places guests within walking distance of the Palais des Festivals, the private beaches, and the boutiques of Rue d'Antibes. Hotels here range from grand Belle Époque palaces to modern 4-star properties. Le Suquet, the medieval hilltop district west of the port, suits travellers who prefer narrow lanes, fish restaurants, and the 16th-century Église Saint-Anne over beachfront crowds. Carnot/Forville, centred on the Marché Forville covered market (open daily except Mondays), offers compact hotels at lower nightly rates and a five-minute walk to the port. Palm Beach, on the Pointe de la Croisette peninsula, is quieter and favoured by guests arriving by car.

Getting Around

The city centre is compact and walkable. Bus Azur connects La Croisette to the train station in under ten minutes. Cannes train station (Gare de Cannes) sits on the main coastal line linking Nice (40 min) and Marseille (2 h). Ferries to the Îles de Lérins — including the island where the Man in the Iron Mask was held — depart from the Vieux Port year-round, with crossings taking 15 minutes to Sainte-Marguerite.
