About La Léchère
La Léchère
La Léchère sits in the Tarentaise Valley of Savoie, roughly 10 km north of Moûtiers at an elevation of around 500 m. The town built its identity on thermal water — the Thermes de La Léchère have drawn visitors since the 19th century, treating venous and circulatory conditions with sodium-bicarbonate-sulfated spring water. The spa remains the town's core attraction, drawing a quieter, wellness-oriented crowd distinct from the ski-resort towns nearby.
Position in the Tarentaise corridor gives La Léchère direct access to the Paradiski ski area — Les Arcs and La Plagne together form one of the largest linked ski domains in the Alps, with over 425 km of marked runs. Day-trippers and longer-stay visitors use La Léchère as a calmer, lower-cost base compared to purpose-built altitude stations. Summer visitors come for hiking in the Vanoise massif and for the Arc thermal baths after trail days.
The town is served by Moûtiers–Salins–Bourg-Saint-Maurice rail station, with Eurostar Ski Train services running direct from London St Pancras in winter. Most hotels concentrate along the valley floor near the spa complex, making it easy to walk between accommodation and the thermal centre without a car.
