About Pallini
Pallini: Athens' Eastern Gateway on the Attica Plain
Pallini is a municipality in eastern Attica, roughly 20 km east of central Athens along the Athens–Thessaloniki motorway (E75). The town sits at the edge of the Mesogeia plain, bordered by Mount Hymettus to the west and the wine-producing villages of Koropi and Peania to the south. During the 2004 Athens Olympics, Pallini hosted boxing and taekwondo events at the Pallini Combat Sports Center, giving the area modern sporting infrastructure that remains in use today.
Where to Stay
Visitors choose Pallini primarily for its road and rail access. The Pallini station on Athens Metro Line 3 (blue line) connects the suburb to Syntagma Square in under 30 minutes, making it a practical base for travellers attending events at the nearby Athens Concert Hall corridor or transiting to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, 15 km to the east. Hotels here tend to offer larger room formats and parking — practical for road-trip itineraries through the Attica wine route.
Practical Tips
- Getting around: Metro Line 3 runs frequently; journey to the airport takes roughly 20 minutes from Pallini station.
- Best time to visit: April–June and September–October bring mild temperatures under 25 °C and lighter traffic on the E75.
- Day trips: Ancient Brauron sanctuary (Artemis temple, 6th century BC) lies 12 km south; Marathon battlefield is 30 km north.
