Nusa Dua sits on the southeastern tip of the Bukit Peninsula, roughly 40 km south of Ngurah Rai International Airport by road. Indonesian authorities developed the area in the 1970s under the Btdc master plan, concentrating large-scale resorts behind a single guarded perimeter to protect the rest of Bali from uncontrolled hotel sprawl. The result is a compact enclave of wide boulevards, manicured gardens, and direct beach access — a deliberate contrast to the narrow lanes of Seminyak or Ubud.

The resort strip runs along Pantai Mengiat and Pantai Geger, two calm-water beaches sheltered from the Indian Ocean swell by the peninsula's limestone bluffs. Properties here range from mid-scale business hotels to large five-star chains — the Sofitel Bali, Mulia Resort, and Grand Hyatt Bali all occupy beachfront plots within walking distance of each other. The Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, opened in 2013 and host to the 2022 G20 Summit, draws a significant share of corporate and government visitors.

• Getting around: The resort perimeter is walkable, but reaching Seminyak (18 km north) requires a taxi or ride-hail app.
• Beach conditions: Geger Beach offers calmer water than the west-coast surf breaks — suitable for swimming year-round.
• Currency: ATMs inside the compound dispense Indonesian rupiah; card acceptance is wide at resort properties.
• Shoulder season: April–May and September–October bring lower room rates and fewer crowds than the July–August peak.
