About Nusa Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan: Bali's Reef-Fringed Neighbour
Nusa Lembongan sits 11 km southeast of Bali's Sanur Beach, separated from the larger Nusa Penida by the Badung Strait. The island covers roughly 8 km² and draws visitors for its surf breaks — Shipwrecks, Lacerations, and Playground are the three main reef passes — along with snorkelling at Mangrove Point and the seaweed farms that line the western shallows. Fast boats from Sanur take 30–40 minutes, making the island an accessible day trip or multi-night stay.
Where to Stay
Most accommodation clusters along Jungutbatu on the northwest coast, the island's main village and boat landing. A quieter strip of guesthouses and small resorts lines Mushroom Bay to the south. Properties range from simple fan rooms to mid-range bungalows with sea-facing terraces. The Yellow Bridge connects Lembongan to Nusa Ceningan, and several guesthouses on Ceningan offer cheaper rates with easy walking access.
Practical Tips
- Getting there: Fast boat from Sanur (roughly IDR 150,000–250,000 one-way); book tickets at the beach-front offices the day before.
- Getting around: Rent a scooter from Jungutbatu (IDR 70,000–100,000/day); the island circuit takes under an hour.
- Surf timing: April–October brings the driest winds and most consistent swells at the reef breaks.
- Currency: Bring Indonesian rupiah — ATM availability is limited.
