Most hotels in Cappadocia occupy one of three zones. Göreme holds the densest concentration of cave hotels and hostels, steps from the open-air museum. Ürgüp, 7 km east, attracts visitors seeking stone-mansion conversions with wine-tasting menus — the surrounding Nevşehir province produces Emir and Öküzgözü grapes. Uçhisar, centred on a rock-cut fortress, offers quieter lodging with panoramic valley views.

• Getting around: Dolmuş minibuses connect Göreme, Ürgüp, and Avanos; rent a scooter or hire a local driver for valley hikes.
• Nearest airport: Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) is 40 km from Göreme; Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR) is 75 km away with more frequent connections.
