Fiuggi sits 76 km south-east of Rome in the Ciociaria hills of Lazio, at roughly 750 metres above sea level. The town built its reputation on two thermal springs — Fonte Bonifacio Viii (historically patronised by Pope Boniface Viii in 1298) and Fonte Anticolana — whose low-mineral waters are clinically used to treat kidney stones and urinary disorders.
