About Folgaria

Folgaria

Folgaria sits on the Alpe Cimbra plateau at 1,166 metres above sea level in Trentino, roughly 20 km south of Trento and 90 km from Verona. The town anchors one of the largest ski areas in the region: the Folgaria-Fiorentini-Lavarone network links over 100 km of pistes across three connected resorts. Most hotels cluster along Via Roma and the slopes above Polsa, placing guests within walking distance of the main lifts.

Winter draws Italian and German families seeking reliable snow from December through March. Summer brings a different crowd — road cyclists tackle the climb from Rovereto, and hikers follow the Strada della Sette Comuni through beech forest. The area sits on the former front line of World War One; the Forte Sommo Alto fortress, built by the Austro-Hungarian army in 1914, is open for guided visits from June to September and adds a layer of history distinct from purely alpine resorts.

Folgaria has no direct train station; the nearest rail hub is Rovereto, served by Trenitalia on the VeronaTrentoBrenner line, with bus connections covering the final 18 km to the plateau. A small but well-marked network of free parking areas serves drivers arriving via the SS350 road.
