About Ponte di Legno
Ponte di Legno
Ponte di Legno sits at 1,258 metres in Val Camonica, Brescia province, Lombardy, roughly 130 km east of Milan. The town anchors the Adamello Ski area, which links with Tonale Pass to offer around 100 km of pisted runs across two provinces. In summer, the same terrain opens for hiking and mountain biking into the Adamello-Presanella natural park, where glaciers above 3,000 metres are still accessible on foot.
Most visitors are Italian and German skiers who arrive between December and April. The compact centro storico holds stone-clad chalets, family-run rifugi, and a handful of 3- and 4-star hotels within walking distance of the gondola base station on Via Roma. The weekly market on Thursday mornings sells local cured meats and Valcamonica cheese. Off-season travellers find considerably lower room rates and quieter trails, with wildflower meadows replacing ski runs by late June.
The nearest railway station is Edolo, approximately 20 km down the valley, served by regional trains from Brescia. From Edolo, a local bus runs to Ponte di Legno several times daily. The A4 motorway exit at Brescia Est is around 115 km by road via the SS42.
