About San Giuliano Terme

San Giuliano Terme

San Giuliano Terme sits at the foot of Monte Pisano, 6 kilometres north of Pisa's cathedral square. The town built its identity around thermal springs that have drawn visitors since Roman times; the Grand Hotel Bagni di Pisa, dating to the 18th century, marks the historic core of the spa district. Sulphurous waters here reach 38 °C and feed several accredited thermal facilities along Via delle Terme.

Most guests arrive for therapeutic stays — rheumatology and respiratory treatments are the main draws — combined with day trips into Pisa, reachable by local bus in under 20 minutes. The Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli stand 6 km south. Lucca's medieval walls are roughly 20 km west along the SP1. Cyclists use San Giuliano as a quieter, less expensive base for touring the Pisan plain and the Monte Pisano trails above the town.

Accommodation ranges from the historic grand hotel and converted villas to smaller agriturismi on the lower Monte Pisano slopes. The town sits within Pisa province, Tuscany region. Rail connections are limited; a car or local bus is the practical choice for reaching surrounding sites.
