Sarre is a small municipality in the Aosta Valley, northwestern Italy, sitting roughly 5 km west of Aosta city along the Dora Baltea river valley. The town is defined by Castello di Sarre, a 13th-century fortification rebuilt as a royal hunting residence for the House of Savoy in the 19th century. King Vittorio Emanuele II used the castle from the 1870s as a summer retreat, and the interior still displays hunting trophies and period furnishings. The castle sits on a rocky promontory at around 860 m elevation, offering clear views across the valley toward Mont Blanc to the northwest.
