Hotel Certosa Di Maggiano

Forty-eight rooms occupy a 14th-century Carthusian monastery one kilometre southeast of Siena's historic walls, where the original cloister, chapter house, and frescoed chapel remain in daily use. The Certosa di Maggiano is the oldest certosa in Tuscany, suppressed under Napoleon and later converted to a private residence before opening as a hotel.

Rooms spread across the monastery buildings; no two share identical proportions, and several retain vaulted stone ceilings. A heated outdoor pool sits within the walled garden, and the restaurant sources produce from the surrounding estate.

The location rewards guests with a car: Piazza del Campo is under ten minutes by road, while Montepulciano and Montalcino — each under an hour — make practical day trips from this quiet monastic base.
