About Diani Beach
Diani Beach: Coral Reef Coast South of Mombasa
Diani Beach sits on Kenya's south coast, roughly 30 km south of Mombasa along the B8 highway. The beach stretches approximately 17 km of white coral sand backed by indigenous forest, with the Indian Ocean reef system running parallel to shore. The reef keeps inshore waters calm and shallow — ideal for snorkelling, kitesurfing, and glass-bottom boat trips. The town grew as a resort corridor through the 1980s and today anchors the Kwale County coast.
Where to Stay in Diani Beach
Accommodation lines Diani Beach Road, from all-inclusive beach resorts to small guesthouses near Ukunda junction. Properties cluster north toward Tiwi and south toward Galu Beach, the quieter end preferred by longer-stay visitors. The Colobus Conservation Centre on Diani Beach Road borders several mid-range hotels and marks the heart of the resort strip.

- Best conditions: July–October brings dry southeast trade winds, peak kitesurfing season; April–May sees long rains.
- Currency: Kenyan shilling (KES); most beach hotels accept USD and major cards.
