Dar Rafik

Wrapped around a blue-washed courtyard off Derb Ben Degoun near Bab Souk, Dar Rafik occupies a traditional riad two minutes' walk from Chefchaouen's medina gate — a quiet base for travellers who want the old town's alleys close by without sleeping on top of the main square.

Rooms keep original tadelakt walls and painted wood ceilings; several open directly onto the courtyard rather than a corridor. A rooftop terrace faces the Rif mountains and is where breakfast is served, weather permitting.

Bab Souk itself puts the spice and leather stalls within a five-minute walk.
