Casa Vlad

Sixteen rooms in a family-run guesthouse on DN18, Casa Vlad sits at the northern edge of Săpânța, the Maramureș village known worldwide for its Merry Cemetery — a churchyard of painted oak crosses with carved, often comic, life stories of the deceased.

Rooms follow a traditional wooden-house aesthetic with exposed beams and locally woven textiles; breakfast draws on Maramureș farmhouse staples including homemade plum brandy and sheep's cheese.

The Merry Cemetery entrance is a ten-minute walk along the main road. The wooden church circuit of Maramureș — a UNESCO ensemble — begins within the same valley, making the property a practical base for touring northern Romania's distinctive folk heritage.
