About Alameda del Valle

Alameda del Valle

Alameda del Valle sits at roughly 1,100 metres above sea level in the Lozoya Valley, one of the most preserved river corridors in the Community of Madrid. The village lies within the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park buffer zone — pine forests, granite ridges, and the Lozoya River define its immediate landscape. The population numbers fewer than 200 residents, making it one of the quietest corners of Madrid province.

Most visitors arrive from Madrid city, about 80 km to the south via the M-604. They come for hiking trails into the Guadarrama range, trout fishing on the Lozoya, mountain biking on forest tracks, and winter snowshoeing when conditions allow. The nearby Rascafría village and the 14th-century Monastery of El Paular, 5 km west, are common day-trip additions. Rural tourism drives the local economy — small guesthouses and rural houses (casas rurales) make up most of the accommodation stock.

The village itself clusters around a central square with a Romanesque-influenced church. Summers are mild at altitude, with daytime highs rarely exceeding 25 °C, while winters bring regular frosts and occasional snow. The nearest train access is Cercedilla station on the Renfe C-8 line, from which local bus or taxi connects to the valley.
