Gaianes is a small municipality in the Comarca del Comtat, inland Valencia, roughly 80 km south of the city of Valencia. The village sits at around 500 metres elevation on the slopes above the Serpis river valley, surrounded by almond and cherry orchards that colour the hillsides white and pink in late February. The medieval street layout traces back to Moorish settlement, and the restored Torre de Gaianes — a defensive tower of Andalusian origin — remains the settlement's most referenced historic structure.
