Los Ángeles sits inside Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park in Almería, Spain. Find hotels and plan your visit to this sun-drenched Andalusian coast.
Los Ángeles is a small municipality in Almería province, southeastern Spain, within the autonomous community of Andalusia. The town sits in a semi-arid landscape shaped by the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park — one of the largest protected coastal areas in the western Mediterranean. Dry riverbeds, volcanic rock formations, and salt flats define the terrain. The area receives more than 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, making it one of the sunniest corners of Europe.
Visitors come primarily for the natural park's beaches — Playa de los Genoveses and Playa de Mónsul are among the most photographed in Andalusia, both reachable within a short drive. The region also attracts film crews: the desert-like backdrop around Almería has hosted productions since the Spaghetti Western era of the 1960s. Hikers and birdwatchers use Los Ángeles as a base for trails through the park's protected wetlands and coastal cliffs. Low-key agritourism and rural accommodation have grown steadily as alternatives to the mass-tourism resorts of the Costa del Sol.
The nearest commercial airport is Almería Airport (LEI), approximately 40 km northwest. Public transport links to the area are limited — a private vehicle is the practical choice for exploring the natural park and surrounding villages.
