El-Beit

Eight earthen-walled rooms make up El-Beit, a kershef guesthouse on the Siwa–Marsa Matrouh road built from the same salt-rock and clay mix that has shaped Siwa's architecture for centuries. The material keeps interiors cool through afternoon heat without mechanical air conditioning.

Siwa Oasis sits 560 kilometres west of Cairo near the Libyan border, with the ancient Oracle Temple of Amun and Cleopatra's Spring both reachable on foot or by donkey cart from the property. The surrounding palm groves and salt lakes draw serious birdwatchers during spring migration.

With only eleven reviews and a 9.9 rating, El-Beit functions closer to a private house than a conventional hotel — common in Siwa, where small family-run lodges often outperform larger resorts on personal service.
