Charlottenburg is the western anchor, close to the Zoologischer Garten S-Bahn hub and the KaDeWe department store, opened in 1907.

Getting Around

Berlin's BVG network covers U-Bahn (nine lines), S-Bahn, tram, and bus. A 24-hour pass covers all zones AB, which includes every district listed above. Trams are concentrated in the former East; the U1 and U8 cross Kreuzberg. Cycling is practical — over 1,000 km of dedicated lanes cross the city.
