The Gulmarg Gondola, operating since 2005, carries riders to Apharwat Peak at 3,980 metres — among the highest cable-car stations in the world — and gives skiers access to long off-piste runs above the treeline.

Hotels cluster along the main circular road that rings the meadow. Properties range from government-run huts to mid-range resorts with ski-in access. Booking well ahead is essential for the December–February ski season, when occupancy peaks sharply.
