About Andrian - Andriano

Andrian — Andriano

Andrian — known in German as Andriano — is a small municipality in the Etschtal (Adige Valley) of South Tyrol, roughly 8 kilometres north of Bolzano. The village sits at around 400 metres above sea level on terraced slopes where Gewürztraminer and Pinot Blanc grapes have been cultivated for centuries. The Kellerei Andrian cooperative, founded in 1893, remains one of the area's defining institutions and draws wine enthusiasts from across Europe each autumn harvest season.

Visitors come mainly for agritourism, cycling along the Etsch cycle path, and day trips into the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage area. The Mendel ridge rises directly to the west, offering hiking trails above the treeline within 30 minutes by car. South Tyrol's bilingual German-Italian character is evident throughout: menus, signage, and local conversation switch freely between both languages, and the cuisine blends Tyrolean Speck and dumplings with northern Italian pasta traditions.

Andrian has no rail station of its own; the nearest stop is Terlan on the BolzanoMerano line, about 3 kilometres away. Bolzano Airport (BZO) connects to Rome and Vienna with flight times under two hours. Most properties in the village are family-run guesthouses or farm stays rather than large hotels.
