Asmundo di Gisira

Beyond the lava-stone arch on Via Gisira, Asmundo di Gisira occupies an 18th-century Baroque palazzo two blocks from Catania's La Pescheria fish market, where the morning catch noise begins before dawn. The building's original frescoed ceilings and mosaic floors survive across the main common areas.

Rooms vary from compact courtyard-facing doubles to a top-floor suite with a private terrace looking toward Etna. Breakfast draws on local blood oranges and Sicilian almond pastries, served in the vaulted ground-floor dining room.

Via Gisira places guests inside the UNESCO-listed Baroque quarter, a five-minute walk from Piazza del Duomo and the Sant'Agata cathedral. The airport bus runs along Via Etnea, roughly 600m north.
