Palazzo Badiale history&rooms

Around the medieval core of Monteverde, a hilltop comune straddling the Campania-Basilicata border, Palazzo Badiale occupies a restored noble residence on Via Marconi with original vaulted ceilings and carved stone doorframes still intact.

Rooms vary in size and ceiling height according to their original function within the palazzo; the largest retain frescoed cornicing from the 18th century, and no two share the same floor plan. The name references the Badiale family, long-standing landowners whose archive documents are displayed in the entrance hall.

Monteverde's compact historic centre holds Romanesque churches within easy walking distance, while the Ofanto valley below offers hiking routes rarely listed in regional guides. The nearest rail connection runs from Rocchetta Sant'Antonio, roughly 20km away.
