About Saint-Vincent
Saint-Vincent: Alpine Resort Town
Saint-Vincent is a small Alpine resort town in the Aosta Valley, northwestern Italy, set at roughly 575 metres above sea level along the Dora Baltea river corridor. The town is best known for the Casinò de la Vallée — one of the largest and oldest licensed casinos in Italy — which opened in 1948 and draws visitors year-round from Turin, Milan, and across Europe. That single landmark shapes much of the town's hotel and dining economy.
Beyond the casino, Saint-Vincent has been a thermal destination since Roman times. The Terme di Saint-Vincent spa complex, fed by naturally carbonated waters, attracted 19th-century aristocracy and remains a draw for wellness travellers today. The surrounding valley offers direct access to ski resorts including Cervinia and Champoluc, both reachable within 40–60 minutes by car, making Saint-Vincent a practical base for winter sports without the higher prices of slope-side villages.
The town sits on the A5 motorway between Aosta (28 km west) and Ivrea, with a rail station on the Turin–Aosta line. Most hotels cluster within walking distance of the casino and the central Piazza Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto. The accommodation mix ranges from grand four-star properties tied to the casino complex to smaller family-run guesthouses on the valley slopes.
