Wadi Rum Candles Camp

Carved into the rust-red desert of Wadi Rum, Candles Camp places its tented accommodations among the sandstone formations that rise from the valley floor, keeping light pollution low and the Milky Way overhead unobstructed most nights.

The camp operates guided jeep excursions into the protected area at dawn and dusk, when the rock colors shift from orange to deep violet. Bedouin-style dinners are served communal around an open fire; the kitchen draws on zarb, the traditional underground slow-cook method.

Wadi Rum village lies a short drive along the Desert Highway, with the visitor center handling permits for longer trekking routes into the protected zone. Petra is roughly two hours north by car.
