Beldi camp

Beyond the last paved track into Erg Chebbi, Beldi Camp sits among the dunes at coordinates locals still use instead of a street address — a fifteen-minute 4x4 or camel transfer from Merzouga village, aimed at travellers who want the Sahara itself rather than a desert view from a hotel window.

Tents are pitched directly on sand ridges, oriented so the entrance faces sunrise over the dune crest. Staff run evening Gnawa music sessions around a central fire pit, and stargazing is unaided by any nearby town light.

Merzouga's shops and cafes remain reachable for supplies, but the camp itself has no paved road access, only tracked transfer.
