Celestia Sahara Camp

Tucked behind the first ridge of Erg Chebbi dunes outside Merzouga, Celestia Sahara Camp positions its tents so the eastern face catches the sunrise over the highest sand wall in Morocco — reaching roughly 150 metres at this stretch of the erg.

The camp runs on a generator-off schedule after midnight, keeping light pollution low enough for serious stargazing. Camel treks to the dune crest depart at 16:30 to arrive for the colour shift before dark; a second slot leaves at 05:15 for sunrise.

Merzouga village sits a short drive west, with its row of fossil shops and the Dayet Srji salt lake attracting migratory flamingos in wet winters. The nearest paved road connects north to Erfoud in under an hour.
