Kasbah Erg Chebbi

An earthen kasbah built at the foot of Erg Chebbi's dunes, this Merzouga property uses traditional pisé construction to keep rooms cool through desert afternoons without air conditioning. Rooms open onto a courtyard rather than the dune face, cutting sand drift indoors.

Camel treks depart from the property gate at sunset, timed to reach the high dunes before the light drops. A Berber-run kitchen serves tagine cooked in sand-buried coals rather than gas ovens.

Merzouga village sits ten minutes away by vehicle; Rissani's Sunday souk is the nearest real market, forty-five minutes north.
