Luxurious Merzouga Desert Camps

Forty-minute camel trek from Merzouga village delivers guests to this five-star camp, tents pitched among the Erg Chebbi dunes rather than at their base, so the sightlines run unbroken toward Algeria's border ridge to the east. Ten tents, each with private canvas bath and solar lighting, ring a communal fire pit used for nightly Gnawa music sessions.

Dinner is tagine cooked in sand-buried coals; breakfast is timed to sunrise viewing from the dune crest above camp. Merzouga village supplies 4x4 transfers and the last fuel stop before the erg.
