Orient Desert Camp

Twenty-four hours from Marrakech by overnight bus, Orient Desert Camp occupies the erg edge outside Merzouga where the Sahara's tallest dunes — some cresting 150 metres — begin their run eastward toward the Algerian border. The site suits travellers who want raw desert with no resort infrastructure in eyeline.

Tented accommodation sits directly on the sand; each unit faces the dune face rather than a service road. Camel treks depart at dusk for ridge-top positions timed to catch the last light, a route independent camps know better than the hotel corridors of central Merzouga.

Merzouga village lies roughly two kilometres west, reachable on foot or by 4WD. The nearest town with a pharmacy and ATM is Rissani, 53 km northwest.
