Sahara Dome Camp

Forty-eight kilometres south of Rissani, Sahara Dome Camp occupies the edge of Erg Chebbi's dune field near the village of Tissardmine — the closest permanent camp to Merzouga's highest dunes, suited to travellers wanting direct sunrise access without a long camel ride.

Accommodation sits in dome-shaped tents rather than traditional canvas, offering insulation against both summer heat and winter cold. The camp's position at Tissardmine places it away from the main Merzouga road cluster, reducing generator noise from competing camps after dark.

Stargazing here benefits from near-zero light pollution; Erg Chebbi's open horizon runs unbroken to Algeria. Camel treks and 4x4 excursions into the dunes depart directly from camp.
