About Titicaca Kontiki Eco Lodge Peru
The reed-island eco lodge on Lake Titicaca, Kontiki sits on a floating platform built by Uros community members using traditional totora reed techniques — the same method used on the inhabited Uros islands 5km offshore from Puno's harbour.
Accommodation is in compact reed cabins with wool blankets and kerosene lanterns; there is no mains electricity, which keeps the night sky above the altiplano fully visible at 3,812 metres elevation. Meals draw from lake trout and quinoa sourced locally.
Puno itself is a 20-minute boat ride away, giving guests genuine separation from the town while keeping the railway station — the endpoint of the Belmond Andean Explorer from Cusco — within easy reach for arrival and departure.
