Uros Samaraña Uta Lodge
Islas Flotantes de los Uros - Puno - Peru
About Uros Samaraña Uta Lodge
Eight reed-woven rooms rise directly from a floating Uros island on Lake Titicaca, roughly 5km from Puno's port by motorboat. Samaraña Uta is one of the few lodges where guests actually sleep overnight on the totora-reed platforms rather than visiting on a day trip, waking to the lake's 3,810-metre altitude silence before the tourist boats arrive.
Beds use alpaca wool blankets against the cold nights; reed walls mean sound travels, but wind off the water is the main disturbance. Meals are served communally by the Uros host family, with lake trout caught the same morning.
The island rocks gently underfoot — the reed base compresses with each step, a sensation unlike any land-based property. Puno's port transfer takes roughly twenty minutes and can be arranged through the lodge.
