Căsuțele din Poiană

Sixteen wooden cottages spread across a forest clearing in Săpânța, the Maramureș village internationally known for the Merry Cemetery — its painted oak crosses standing 400 metres from the property entrance.

Each căsuță keeps traditional log construction with pitched shingle roofs; interiors run to hand-woven textiles and cast-iron stoves suited to highland winters. No two units share a wall, giving guests genuine quiet rare in the region's busier guesthouses.

Săpânța sits along the Tisa River near the Ukrainian border, where horse-drawn carts still outnumber taxis on market days. The gateway town of Sighetu Marmației is 14 kilometres east, offering the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and onward rail connections.
