La Romaneasa

Five minutes on foot from Săpânța's Merry Cemetery — Romania's famously painted graveyard where carved oak crosses narrate each villager's life in verse — La Romaneasa occupies a ground-floor guesthouse on the village's main road, a practical base for travellers exploring the Maramureș wooden church circuit.

A sauna, hot tub, and barbecue terrace handle evenings; bicycle rental and guided walking and bike tours connect guests to the Cosău Valley trails without a car. The shared kitchen and dining area make it workable for longer rural stays.

Săpânța sits in Romania's far northwest, roughly 10km from the Ukrainian border and 20km from Sighetu Marmației's History Museum. The village itself draws day-trippers, but overnight guests get the cemetery at dawn before the coaches arrive.
