Carreño is a coastal municipality in Asturias, northern Spain, anchored by the fishing village of Candás on the Cantabrian Sea. The council sits roughly 12 km north of Gijón and is part of the densely connected central Asturian strip — making it a practical base for travellers who want Atlantic shoreline without the pace of a large city. Candás itself retains an active fishing harbour and a seafront promenade that follows the cliff edge, giving guests immediate access to the sea without resorting to resort infrastructure.

Most visitors are drawn by a combination of seafood, cider culture, and green coastal walking.
