About Ezcabarte

Ezcabarte

Ezcabarte is a small municipality in the Ezcabarte Valley, Navarre, sitting roughly 10 km north of Pamplona along the foothills of the Pyrenean pre-range. The valley groups several village councils — Oricáin, Arleta, Azoz, Maquirriain, Sorauren, and others — each preserving stone farmhouses and parish churches typical of rural Navarre. The landscape is defined by rolling green hills, the Ulzama River corridor, and forest tracks used by walkers and cyclists connecting the valley to the Camino de Santiago route passing through Pamplona.

Visitors come primarily for rural tourism: agrotourism stays, mountain biking on the network of dirt roads, and day walks with views across the Pamplona basin. The proximity to Pamplona — under 15 minutes by car — makes Ezcabarte a quiet base during the San Fermín festival in July, when Pamplona accommodation fills entirely. Local gastronomy follows the Navarrese pattern: lamb chops, white asparagus from the Ebro valley, and Pacharan liqueur.

Ezcabarte falls within the Comarca of Pamplona. The municipal population numbers around 1,200 residents spread across its constituent villages. Public bus connections link the valley to Pamplona city centre several times daily.
