About Raxó
Raxó is a small fishing village on the southern shore of the Ría de Pontevedra, in Galicia, northwestern Spain. It sits within the municipality of Poio, roughly 8 km from the city of Pontevedra. The village faces the open ría directly — its stone harbour, modest fleet of fishing boats, and low-rise seafront give it a working character that larger Galician resorts have largely lost. The coastline here includes Praia de Raxó, a calm sandy beach sheltered by the headlands of the Morrazo Peninsula across the water.
Visitors come mainly for the beach, the seafood, and the slower pace relative to nearby Sanxenxo — one of Galicia's most popular summer destinations, located just a few kilometres west. Raxó attracts Spanish domestic tourists, particularly families from Pontevedra and Vigo, during July and August. The Rías Baixas wine route passes through this stretch of the coast — Albariño white wine is produced in vineyards a short drive inland.
Raxó is accessible by local road from Pontevedra via the PO-308 coastal route. The nearest rail connection is Pontevedra station, served by Renfe regional trains on the Vigo–Santiago de Compostela line.
