Two medieval townhouses merged into one address at Getreidegasse 37, Hotel Goldener Hirsch has operated as a hotel since 1407 in the same pedestrian lane where Mozart was born four doors down.

Seventy rooms and suites carry hand-painted furniture and vaulted ceilings rather than standardised fixtures; no two share the same floor plan. The restaurant draws on Austrian hunting tradition — venison, game terrine, and Pinzgauer beef sourced from the Salzburg highlands feature year-round rather than seasonally rotated.

Getreidegasse sits at the centre of Salzburg's Old Town UNESCO zone, with the Festival Hall complex a six-minute walk west and the Hohensalzburg fortress cable car four blocks east. The lane itself closes to vehicles, keeping noise levels low despite the central position.
