About Münstertal

Münstertal: A Black Forest Valley Between Vineyard and Summit

Münstertal is a narrow valley municipality in southern Baden-Württemberg, running roughly 15 km from the Rhine Plain foothills up toward Belchen (1,414 m), the highest peak in the southern Black Forest. The valley floor sits at around 400 m elevation, rising steadily through dense fir woodland and hay meadows. The Romanesque St. Trudpert Monastery, founded in the 7th century, anchors the upper valley and remains one of the oldest ecclesiastical sites in southwest Germany.

Where to Stay and Getting Around

Hotels in Münstertal cluster along the B317 valley road, placing guests within walking distance of marked hiking trails and cross-country ski tracks in winter. The nearest rail connection is Bad Krozingen, roughly 20 km west, with onward trains to Freiburg im Breisgau (40 km). Freiburg Airport and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serve the region for international arrivals.
