About Cavedago
Cavedago
Cavedago is a small Alpine village in the Paganella plateau, Trentino, northern Italy, sitting at roughly 800 metres above sea level. It lies within the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, the largest protected area in Trentino, and overlooks the Non Valley (Val di Non) to the west. The village itself counts fewer than 500 residents, giving it a genuinely rural character distinct from the larger ski resorts along the Paganella ridge such as Andalo and Fai della Paganella.
Visitors come primarily for outdoor pursuits. In winter, the Paganella ski area — connected across three resorts — offers around 50 km of marked pistes reachable within a short drive. In summer, the plateau is a base for hiking trails into the Brenta Dolomites, mountain biking circuits, and paragliding from Paganella summit at 2,125 metres. The apple orchards of Val di Non, famous for the IGP-certified Melinda apples, surround the lower slopes and add a distinct agricultural identity to the landscape.
Cavedago is served by the SS421 road; the nearest rail connection is Trento, approximately 30 km south, with onward links to Verona and Innsbruck. Accommodation in the village tends to be small family-run hotels and agriturismo properties rather than large resort complexes.
