About Spormaggiore

Spormaggiore

Spormaggiore is a small municipality in Trentino, northern Italy, set at roughly 800 metres elevation in the hills above the Adige valley, about 20 km north-west of Trento. The village sits within the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, one of the largest protected areas in the Alps, making it a practical base for hiking trails, wildlife watching, and cross-country skiing in winter. The surrounding landscape is dominated by spruce forests, alpine meadows, and the limestone peaks of the Brenta Dolomites.

Visitors are mainly walkers and nature travellers who prefer quieter alternatives to the more frequented resorts of Madonna di Campiglio or Andalo, both reachable within 30–40 minutes by car. The local economy centres on small-scale agriculture, including apple orchards characteristic of the Val di Non, and agritourism. Accommodation options are limited — a handful of small hotels, guesthouses, and farm stays — which keeps the village atmosphere unhurried throughout the year.

Spormaggiore connects to Trento via regional road SS421. The nearest train station is Mezzocorona, approximately 18 km south-east, with direct rail links to Trento and Bolzano.
