Strada Montevile, 3
About Castello Di Monterone
Five centuries of defensive stonework frame the eighteen rooms of Castello di Monterone, a fortified manor on Strada Montevile set against the Umbrian hillside roughly two kilometres south of Perugia's medieval centre.
Rooms occupy towers and thick-walled chambers where exposed stone meets timber ceilings; no two share the same floor plan. A walled garden hosts al fresco dinners in summer, drawing on Umbrian ingredients — truffle, black celery from Trevi, Norcia cured meats.
The castle sits a short drive from Perugia's Etruscan Arch and the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria, while Assisi lies thirty minutes east along the SS75. Private parking on-site removes the complication of the city's historic centre traffic restrictions.
